Digital Painting

I have lived in New York City the majority of my life with some time spent in Westchester county and training in South Carolina and Georgia. One of the things I used to love about my old neighborhood (Spanish Harlem/El Barrio) was passing the Graffiti Hall of Fame on the corner of 106th street and Park avenue. It would change every so often, but was always impressive. One of my favorite images was a kind of meta one that depicted the actual wall with a painting of the wall on it that and went several layers deep.

I used to draw a lot when I was young. I went through phases of:

  • Pencil-only
  • Pen-only
  • Pencil then ink then colored pencils
  • The latter with marker worked in
  • Charcoal

Unfortunately, I fell out of it when I got to college (the first time) and most of my work was lost during various moves.

I have wanted to get back into visual art for years, but there was always some obstacle. Sometimes I was the obstacle. This past January I bought 2 (yes, TWO) Huion display screens/tablets on eBay with the intent to shake the rust off of my creative side. They lied dormant until now.

This is my last semester of college and I decided to make the most of it. I am currently taking Game Design & Development and 3D Visualization in addition to Data Structures & Algorithms (required for my degree). I hope to spark a bit of a personal renaissance this semester and look forward to creating again.
